HMCA Board of Directors Election Schedule

The first official Board of Directors will be elected on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at the first Annual General Meeting of the Association.

The interim Board of Directors, will all be stepping down from the Board; all have the opportunity to stand for election to the new Board of Directors.

The HMCA by-laws call for staggered terms of three years. This is to ensure that there are experienced directors on the board for continuity of ongoing projects and actions. The by-laws call for up to 8 Directors on the Board with additional directors added as and when required to fulfill the mandate of the Association.

The following table shows the proposed initial terms for the first few years:

Election Timeline:

  • 2024:  AGM: Directors elected to 3-, 2- or 1-year terms as noted above

At the first Board of Directors meeting following election, the directors appoint the positions of Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer (as per by-laws).

  • 2025: AGM: Directors 7 & 8 positions are up for election to a 3-year term. (Current directors may run for re-election.

  • 2026: AGM: Directors 4, 5 & 6 positions are up for election to a 3-year term. (current directors may run for re-election)

  • 2027: AGM: Directors 1, 2 & 3 positions are up for election to a 3-year term. (current directors may run for re-election)

At first Board of Directors meeting following election, the directors appoint the positions of Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Teasurer (as per by-laws).  Chair must have served previously at least one year as a Director)

  • 2028: AGM: Directors 7 & 8 positions are up for elections for a 3 year term.
  • 2029: AGM: Directors 4, 5, 6 elected for a 3 year term
  • 2030: AGM: Directors 1, 2, 3 elected for a 3 year term etc.
